Robs university career spanned the UK and SA and, he was professionally registered in the UK. He is a past-President, Gold Medal recipient and Honorary Life Member of the Corrosion Institute, was Chairman of the International Corrosion Congress held by the Institute in Cape Town in 1999 and is a recipient of the international Edward C. Greco Award.
Rob has worked in the United Kingdom, South Africa, Middle and Far East and South America. He has managed research groups, industry associations and held Board positions in commercial companies. Recently he managed a United Nations programme to develop the general galvanizing industry in China.
Rob represented local industry on various government advisory bodies and was Deputy Chairman of the Base Metals Incubation Centre for Manufacturing which offers funding for business and technical training and provides mentoring for budding entrepreneurs. This centre is also a Training Academy being an accredited provider with merSETA, has programme development approval with the Services Seta and designs, develops and implements learning programmes.
