Gert Conradie

“Tunnel Vision- The LHDA Shut Through The Inspector’s Lens”
Gert began his career in 1996 at Vaal Reefs Gold Mine (AngloGold Ashanti) as a fitter and turner, before joining Pro-thane Industrial in 1999 as a workshop manager, a role he held until 2021. There he specialized in polyurethane technologies for the mining industry, including cast and spray applications. During this time, he qualified as a Level 3 Certified Coatings Inspector and Cathodic Protection Technician through NACE, completing his peer review in New Orleans in 2008. He was later invited to lecture for NACE (now AMPP) and, in 2013, served as a specialist guest speaker at the Asian Composite Educational Seminar in Thailand.
In 2022, he joined Isinyithi as a corrosion mitigation specialist, where he has compiled specifications for clients including BTT, Seriti Coal Mines, and Tecroveer AMD, and worked on major projects such as the Lesotho Highlands Development Authority, Majuba Power Station, BIDVEST (BTT), and Engen supply chain depots. He has also conducted failure investigations for acid mine water rehabilitation projects.
Gert is currently employed at Isinyithi Cathodic Protection and has been recently appointed as the 2nd Vice President of the Corrosion Institute of Southern Africa.
