Every year the Corrosion Institute of Southern Africa (CorrISA) has an annual Golf Day of which the proceeds are donated to an elected charity. On 8 April 2010 a cheque to the value of R29000 was presented to Ms Lizette Schoombie of the Teddy Bear Clinic by Mr Andrew Stuart, Chairman of the CorrISA Golf Committee and Mr Louis Pretorius, President of CorrISA.
“It is a pleasure to be able to assist this worthy cause” said Mr Pretorius. “The Corrosion Institute exists to serve all stakeholders, including academia, asset owners, corrosion protection material manufacturers, and suppliers, corrosion protection practitioners and anyone affected or impacted by corrosion.”
“Corrosion affects us all and CorrISA tries to educate as many people as possible through a variety of courses – from the very basics of corrosion right through to specialised areas. We also seek to disseminate topical information regarding corrosion through our monthly technical meetings, which are open to everyone. Interesting plant visits and networking at our various social events including Golf Days, Fishing Days, Wines tastings and our prestigious Annual Dinner keep a good balance”.
The Corrosion Institute provides excellent training courses, constantly expanding the range, diversity and accessibility of training services which they render. Their lecturers are all accredited professionals with many years of experience in the industry. Through accreditation and affiliation they will promote other training organisations who contribute to broadening the base of knowledge in the industry.
In addition to the widely acclaimed Corrosion Engineering course, CorrISA also offers internationally accredited courses such as several of the NACE International suite of corrosion courses.
