Description of Business:
Mintek meets the vital need to solve materials-related problems in industry by supplying metals information, performing short term investigations or applied research into the end use of metals in the manufacturing, fabrication, mining and metallurgical industries. Mintek is equipped to carry out a wide range of tests on mechanical and corrosion properties to gauge and improve product performance. Corrosion problems can be solved by cost-effective research; material selection and evaluation; corrosion testing to standards (ASTM, NACE, ISO, etc); simulated corrosion testing; corrosion monitoring in plants (coupon monitoring programes are designed for sepcific applications); accelerated corrosion testing; corrosion failure analysis; or corrosion surveys. Mintek also offers testing in sour environments including NACE TM0284 and TM0177.
Areas of Specialisation:

Mintek specialises in solving difficult materials-related problems in industry.  Apart from Mintek's extensive library and online subscription to several on-line Journals and databases, Mintek has a wide range of equipment to tackle problems including: electrochemical corrosion testing, glass-vessels, water baths and autoclaves to perform laboratory coupon testing, dedicated equipment for H2S environments (HIC and SSC testing to NACE TM0284 and TM0177 respectively). To characterise materials and corrosion products, Mintek have several scanning electron microscopes (SEM-EDS), optical microscopes, X-ray diffraction, including tensile tests, fatigue tests and fracture toughness testing that can be performed from -80°C to 1000°C.
