Topic: Understanding current Surface Profile and Roughness Measurement techniques and Introducing a new method to measure both characteristics
Presented by : Craig Woodhouse
This seminar will initially focus on explaining the current methodologies used to measure both Surface Profile and Surface Roughness on blast profile surfaces. These techniques include Comparators, Replica Tape, Digital Needle Gauges and Stylus Gauges.
A detailed explanation of the difference between Surface Profile and Surface Roughness will then follow which will include the difficulties experienced in measuring both characteristics on blast profile surfaces. Adherence to relevant ASTM standards and latest developments of those Standards will also be reviewed.
Finally a new method to characterize both Surface Profile and Roughness in one soon to be launched gauge will be introduced. The key features of this new product will be explained and demonstrated. Mention will be made of the ability of this new gauge to provide equivalence to Replica Tape, Needle Gauge and Roughness Ra and Rz characteristics in one durable field suitable hand held product.
