NACE International training courses are the most widely recognised corrosion protection training in the world. The training prepares every student for a comprehensive career in corrosion protection. This opens the door to more career opportunities and earnings potential. NACE’s goal is to develop corrosion professionals that can support their mission of protecting people, assets, and the environment from the effects of corrosion. These courses are held in thirty five countries, and the NACE certification is recognised in one hundred and ten countries. These courses provide hands-on training for those who work at the sharp end of the corrosion protection industry. NACE Certificates are the ultimate proof of competence in the corrosion protection industry, and demonstrate that the holder has received the very best training in their field.

The Corrosion Institute of Southern Africa (CorrISA) entered into a licence agreement with NACE in October 2004, and NACE Corrosion Prevention Training was launched into Southern Africa in July 2005.

NACE offers a wide range of corrosion protection training and at present the four main NACE programmes are offered by CorrISA. These are the

  • Cathodic Protection Programme (CP)
  • Coatings Inspection Programme (CIP)
  • General Coatings Courses
  • General Education Courses

The Corrosion Institute is licenced to present any NACE course in Southern Africa and will do so if demand justifies.

During recent years there has been a great response from the corrosion protection industry in Southern Africa for NACE training. Course material is presented in the form of lectures, demonstrations and hands-on group practical sessions using inspection instruments and equipment. The courses conclude with both written and practical examinations.

South African instructors, approved by NACE, include Craig Botha, Chris Ringas and Neil Webb in the CP programme, and Neil Webb, Bruce Trembling, Mark Terblanche and Gert Conradie for CIP.
